Clinical Directors 


Angela Ford is a Salisbury University alumni. Accepted into the advanced standing Masters program and graduated with a Master’s degree in social work in 2005.  Angela received her LCSW-C licensure in 2008.  In 2010 became certified with the Board of Social Work Examiners to be a supervisor for Licensed Graduate Social Workers (LGSW).  She works as a liaison with Salisbury University as a field supervisor for Master level students.  Angela has been working at Maple Shade since June 2005.  She began as the therapist working with clients who resided at three of Maple Shade’s Therapeutic group homes.  Angela had the opportunity to develop and implement a therapeutic milieu in the residence that was based off of Dr. Ross Greene’s work in “The Explosive Child”.  She continued her journey with providing school based therapy in the Wicomico County School system. Angela was promoted to Clinical Director of the Wicomico County Mental Health Clinic in 2010.  She now sits on the Wicomico County Multidisciplinary Committee.  Angela continues to serve children and adolescents while providing supervision and support to therapists working in the out patient mental health clinic. Jessica Holloway joined the Maple Shade staff in May of 2007. She provided therapeutic services to the children and families in the Somerset County area. She completed her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Psychology at Salisbury University in 2002. In May of 2004 she graduated from Salisbury University with her Master’s degree in Social Work. In October of 2009 she became licensed as a LCSW-C. She served as Supervisor for the Somerset County Maple Shade Clinic from 2008- 2010. At the current time she is the Clinical Director for Somerset County. She has worked in a variety of settings with children, families and groups. Specific areas of interest include: children and families, crisis intervention, and behavior management. Clinical Service Manager

Shanda Ward is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.  Shanda has been an employee of Maple Shade since 1994.  She graduated from the University Of Maryland Eastern Shore in 1994 with a Bachelors of Science in General Studies, and with a concentration in Special Education.  She also holds a Masters in Science degree from Wilmington College in Community Counseling. Shanda is an approved supervisor the LGPC's per the Board of Licenced Professionals. [sward@maple-shade.org]

Therapists

 Heather Shelton joined our staff as a therapist in April of 2009. She provides school based mental health services in our Crisfield office. She completed her Bachelor’s of Arts in Social Work with a minor in Psychology from Salisbury University in May of 2003. In May of 2005 she graduated from Salisbury University’s Master of Social Work program. During this time she was president of Phi Alpha National Honor Society of Social Work Students, inducted in to Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology, a nominee for Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in the Social Services, on Salisbury University's Deans List and received the State of Maryland’s Governor's Volunteer Services Certificate of Appreciation and Certificate of National Service. In August of 2009 she became licensed as a LCSW-C. She has worked in a variety of settings with children, families and groups. Her theoretical perspective is eclectic, but she primarily likes to use cognitive-behavioral therapy using a strength based and client centered approach. Specific areas of interest include: children and families, crisis intervention, behavior management, mood disorders and resiliency. Tonya O'Hara joined our staff as a therapist in May of 2010. She provides school based mental health services in our Princess Anne office. She

 completed her Bachelor’s of Arts in Social Work from Salisbury University in May of 2003. In May of 2009 she graduated from Salisbury University’s Master of Social Work program. During this time she interned at Wicomico High school in the behavioral management class and also the mental health unit in PRMC hospital. In April 203 she became licensed as a LCSW-C. Her main interest of population is adolescents and teenagers using primarily cognitive behavioral therapy and reality based therapy. Ashley Phillips joined the Maple Shade staff in July of 2011 as a school-based therapist in Somerset County. She graduated from Salisbury University with her Masters in Social Work in May 2011 and received her LCSW-C in 2013. In 2015 she became an approved social work supervisor with the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to supervise License Graduate Social Workers toward advanced licensure. She specializes in youth populations and is mainly in the elementary school with children in grades K-5. Ashley’s theoretical perspective includes Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Dialectical Behavioral Theory, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy. Her other areas of interested include behavior modification, resiliency, and family therapy. Kim Whitaker joined the Maple Shade staff in April, 2012. Kim received her Bachelors of Social Work from Frostburg State University in May, 2007 and Masters of Social Work from Salisbury University in May, 2010. She became a licensed graduate social worker in March, 2012 and now is a LCSW-C. Her previous work experience includes an internship at Sussex County Opportunity Program Education (SCOPE); an alternative school for children grades 6th-12th grade in Bridgeville Delaware and the Lower Shore Early Intervention Program in Salisbury. Throughout her internship at SCOPE, she counseled clients handled anger management groups for students. Kim’s internship at the Lower Shore Early Intervention Program led to employment, following graduation. Kim worked as a behavior interventionist for children ages 2-5 in childcare settings. Kim helped teachers and caregivers formulate plans for children who were at risk of being removed from childcare, due to behavioral challenges. Kim currently serves clients in school based therapy in The WELCH Center, Beaver Run Elementry, East Salisbury Elem, Wi Middle and Wi Hgh.  Kwhitaker@maple-shade.org
 
Connie Polovina, LCSW-C, is a native Washingtonian who relocated to the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 2006. She completed her undergraduate work at Wheaton College (Illinois) and taught middle school for 15 years beforeearning a Master of Social Work at West Virginia University.  She also holds a Certificate in Bereavement SkillsCounseling from The Center for Loss and Life Transition in Ft. Collins, Colorado. In addition to working with children,her major areas of practice interest include mood disorders, anger/stress reduction, and issues of abuse and trauma.While her training was primarily Solution Focused, she utilizes an array of therapeutic interventions to address these issues with a client centered approach. Stephanie Blevins received her M.A in Community Counseling from Regent University in 2013. She is a Licensed Certified  Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland. She has experience in both private practice and school settings. Stephanie recently completed the certification as a Play Therapist, and is a proud member of the Association for Creativity in Counseling. Stephanie joined the Maple Shade team as an outpatient mental health therapist in May 2014. She currently provides school based therapy in Prince Street Elem,  Chipman Elem, Glen Ave, North Salisbury Elem, Salisbury Middle, Bennett Middle, Wi High and Bennett High School. Maria Stewart has been with Maple Shade since 2012. She started as an intern for her MSW program at Salisbury University and became a part time therapist once she received her LGSW.  Maria works with clients in the evenning and provides home based Individual and Family therapy.  She works with mostly adults and some children and adolescents.  Maria utlizes cognitive behavioral thearpy, person centered and system's therory when working with her clients. Maria is currently prusuing her Play Therapy Certification and hopes to have this complete by 2018.  Mstewart@maple-shade.org 

 

  Michele Adkins, LCSW-C joined Maple Shade in February 2015 as The Initial/Annual Assessment Clinician. She received her BASW and MSW from Salisbury University. Michele has over 15 years experience working in the Mental Health field with specialties in Diagnostics and Crisis Intervention. Michele also has experience working in Case Management, Infants and Toddlers Services and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program Administration. madkins@maple-shade.org 

 Stephanie Hitchens, LCSW-C has joined our Maple Shade team in March 2015 as a part time School Based Mental Health Therapist. She has expereince in working with the Crisis Response Team through Worcester County Health Department.  Stephanie currently provides Individual and Group Therapy at the following schools: Beaver Run Elem, East Salisbury Elem, West Salisbury Elem, North Salisbury Elem, Willards Elem, Pittsville Elem and Middle, Pemberton Elem, Wi Middle, Salisbury Middle and WI High. shitchens@maple-shade.org  

 Joy Gibson-McIntire has her LCPC licencure. She is working on obtaining a certicfication in guidance counseling.  Joy provides school based therapy in Fruitland Primary, Fruitland Intermediate, Prince Street Elem, Chipman Elem, Glen Ave Elem, Bennett Middle, Salisbury Middle, Bennett High and Parkside High School.    Cindi Verges, LGSW, joined our staff in June 2015. She obtained her Master's Degree in Social Work from Salisbury University. Cindi has seven years experience working with children as an early childhood provider. She also has two years experience interning with children, families, and vulnerable adults. Her theoretical approach is eclectic, as she uses person-centered, strengths, and systems based perspectives with cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, and play therapies. Currently, Cindi is completing play therapy training and hopes to become a Registered Play Therapist by the end of 2017. She is currently serving clientele at Princess Anne Elementary, Greenwood Elementary, Somerset Intermediate, Washington High, and Maple Shade's Princess Anne Clinic. cverges@maple-shade.org


 Stephanie James, LGSW, has been with Maple Shade since 2013. She started as an intern in the Treatment Foster Care (TFC) Program for her BA degree, and continued as an intern in Somerset County for her MSW at Salisbury University.  She graduated from Salisbury University’s Advanced Standing Program with her Master’s degree in Social Work in May 2015. During her time at SU, she was a member of Phi Alpha Honor Society, and is currently a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Stephanie has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Her theoretical perspective includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Strength’s Perspective. She is currently serving clients at Crisfield High School, Somerset Intermediate, and the alternative school (High Road and Promise Academy) in Somerset County. (scolona@maple-shade.org)

Toni Huffman graduated from Salisbury University with her MSW in 2014. Toni is a school based therapyst in Wicomico County. She works with kids and adolescents in Beaver Run Elem, East Salisbury Elem, Wi Middle, Salisbury Middle, Bennett Middle, WI HI and Mardela Middle and High. Toni utilizes a strength- Based approach and person centered practice.  Toni is a co leader for a ADHD boys group held in the Community.  (Thuffman@maple-shade.org)

 Angie Casey is our Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program Director and also a part time therapist. She has worked at Maple Shade since 2011. She was a PRP worker while she pursued her Counseling degree from Walden University and now has her Licence in Counseling.  Angie works with children and adults in the Mardela Clinic and in does school based therapy in Prince Street Elementary. Angie enjoys working in groups and will work with the PRP staff in providing after school groups for our clients.  Angie has many years of experience in working with clients with ADHD, ODD, Bi Polar disorder, Depression and Intermittent Explosive Disorder.  (Acasey@maple-shade.org). 

 

 Maci Wallace, LGSW also joined our Maple Shade team in 2015 as a MSW intern. She has now graduated from Salisbury University and has her LGSW licence.  Maci works with the geriatric population at a nursing home in Wicomico County and in the evenings, she has community and home based clients in Wicomico County.  Maci enjoys working with children of all ages and co leads a Elem aged girls group on Thursday nights.  Maci uses CBT, Person Centered Practice, Systems Theory and some play therapy techniques with her clients.  (Mwallace@Maple-shade.org). 

Amanda (Mandy) Eberly, LGSW joined the Maple Shade staff in January of 2017 as a school-based therapist in Wicomico County.  She graduated from Salisbury University with her Masters in Social Work in May of 2015 and received her LGSW in June of 2015.  Mandy utilizes the strengths-based approach with her clients and currently provides school-based therapy at Beaver Run Elementary, Bennett High, Fruitland Primary, Fruitland Intermediate, Stepping Stones, Wicomico Middle, and Wicomico High.
